LOL! I meant in the sense of my presence showing that I endorse the film, not that I cared whether I was at a movie theatre. I do attend, occasionally, if something decent is showing, which isn't often. I think the last time I attended was to see.....I can't remember the last movie I saw at a theatre. I usually wait until I can order the movie on Amazon.
Sure, I got that. Just saying.
Movies were forbidden in the UPC back then too, weren't they? The 60s and 70s? Maybe still are in some circles, I bet? For some AGers, too, I'm sure.

Hebrews 13:23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty
1. Noah didn't have to guess or work out what God wanted of him or what He wanted Noah to do. God told him what to do.
2. Noah wasn't fighting to keep people out of the Ark. He was inviting anyone who would listen to come in.
3. All three of Noah's sons had wives on the Ark.
4. There were no stowaways on the Ark.
5. Noah was a good and righteous man. He didn't try to kill his grandchildren. "This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God." Genesis 6:9 (NIV)
6. It wasn't Noah's job to preside over the extinction of the human race but to provide a way of salvation for all of mankind. Noah understood that from the beginning.
There is no excuse for any of us, who hold the Word of God with great respect, to make any attempt to waste our money on this film.
We should allow this movie to fizzle out at the box office and send a message to Hollywood. Why don't we care enough to do that? Why are we okay that Hollywood is taking such liberties, saying it's Hollywood and it's okay because of that fact? Well, IMO, it is not okay.
As much as that is all true, that isnt the part that bothers me the most.
well... Noah being a preacher of righteousness and not a kungfu master.... that bothers me a lot...
but the part that really bothers me is the uber twist of fallen angels being the "good guys" in this movie.
They were in fact, according to scripture the really really bad guys that helped to twist humanity to the point that God got tired of hearing it.
As per the very predictable nature of Hollywood, They have called evil good and good, evil.
THAT is what Hollywood is. We would all do well to remember that.

God isn't in control when you choose to walk in and support a Hollywood film that takes such atrocious liberties with God's Word.
God is in absolute control. The moment He isn't, He is no longer GOD. To say that God isn't in control is a very weak and anemic view of God's sovereignty. God holds the reigns of every king's heart on earth... and that even includes movie producers. Talk about not reading your Bible. lol This is just a movie BASED on a biblical story. It's not the biblical story itself. I'd never bill it as such.
Quote:
So, Aquila, you are okay that Noah, in this film, is given a hallucinogenic tea, wherein, he discovers he must build an Ark? And you don't mind the film's theme is about men hurting the environment more than the sin they actually committed?
It's just a story. God can use anything He chooses, even a hallucinogenic tea. In fact, it's just a detail that's in agreement with ancient culture. Hallucinogens were often vehicles for religious experience. Again, it's just a story. I'd use it to say, "It was a cool movie, but this is how the Bible says it really happened..."
Quote:
And you aren't bothered that Ham, who was already married in the Bible, is seeking a wife, is lusting after Hermione, but she ain't having any of it because she is barren and is really in love with Shem, wherein, Hopkins steps in, as Methuselah with his magical powers to make her fertile, which in turn, causes her to chase after Shem and have sex with him under the trees? Is Anthony on Meth in this movie? Or is it just Russell with the Hallucinogens? lol
LOL!
We need to get over our weak stomach regarding polygamy... it was the way of life in ancient cultures (God ordained or not). As for Ham's antics in the film, Ham isn't known for his decency or morality in Scripture either.
Quote:
Are you okay that all the animals are in the ark, put to sleep by incense? No wonder they don't mention God, they don't need Him. Break out the incense. LOL!
It does sound strange. However, the Bible doesn't mention the animals sleeping or not sleeping. It could have happened in several different manners. I see that as creative license. And as for the story... who created the incense? God. Did God give direction to use the incense, or was it merely depicted as common knowledge of the day? If so, doesn't God use incense in the temple? A strange concept, yes. A reason to get our panties in a bunch, no.
Quote:
Are you okay that Noah is going to kill his grandchildren, but only stopped by Hermione who says she needs to sing them to sleep first before he spears them? Righteous Noah turned into a would be murder. Who would have thunk?
First, is this part of an ancient myth incorporated into this drama? Ancient myths even depict Noah as a "city king" according to some scholars.
Quote:
I am not bothered by allegory like the Narnia Chronicles, but this is the Bible, Aquila.
It's Hollywood.
Quote:
I think the 10 Commandments took a few liberties, but they didn't take the film anywhere close to out of context.
I want to see it because it will open doors of communication. Think. We so often run scared with our self-righteous panties in a bunch when things aren't fundamentally what we believe the Scriptures to say. It's a great opportunity to open conversation on the real story with people. It's a wide open door. But we've fallen into our politicization freak out mode wherein we boycott and protest... instead of pray and be led.
So sad that holiness is eroding away. What's next? TV?
I remember staying with some really nice people when I first got in church and saw Bro Urshan being interviewed somewhere. I was, like, "I know that man!" LOL!
