Of course, the problem is that things that people "know" because they were told they had to, without
seeing (as Jesus said to Thomas), are exempt.
Perfect example: young-earth creationism. There is abundant evidence that the earth is more than 4 billion years old. There is abundant evidence that the universe is over 13 billion years old. Doesn't matter. There's a timeline in the Bible, and that
must be believed.
