He did push it. He was a bit out of line. But, good grief, having him arrested for what he did? That seems extreme. Especially after they forced his daughter to read erotica without his permission.
Technically, he was wrong for pushing it. And he did overstep his bounds as far as the rule was concerned. However, when is it okay to break the rule a teensy bit? In my opinion, I would not have done what he did, but I don't feel it was worth being arrested over. I even find something a little admirable about it.

Re: Man Arrested For Speaking Against Sexual Book
I agree. I felt that the man could have handled the situation better, and certainly he should not have "asked" to read an excerpt, he should have just started off reading it, and then asked, why are our kids reading this. PO's Mom had the right idea!
I don't think he should have been arrested, just removed from the room.

He told the officer that he had to be arrested before he would leave, showing how silly the situation was to warrant an arrest. It mocked the police and they were dumb enough to follow through. Give me a break.
If the cop had any brains he would have said he was not going to arrest the guy, but deal with him in a way that would calm things down aside from an arrest. My goodness!

I am not against his practice of freedom of speech. I am against his attitude.
What you guys are missing is that had this guy been a teenager with the same attitude he displayed, the cops (because he would have called for back-up) would have slammed the kid to the ground and cracked his skull for resisting and.or being a public nuissance and a disturber of the peace.
My posts were attacking the content of the book, the behavior of this smart-aleck father, and the behavior of cops toward youth.

Even if you get my quote right, make sure you include the context, or else, you're still misquoting me.

LOL! So, you agree that I got your quote right. Your definition of "threat" is questionable, so your context is still up for evaluation.

Jermyn? Seriously? PO quoted your entire post, so she not only quoted you 100% correctly, she DID include context.
FTR, though, posts are not required to be quoted in entirety, and it's okay for people to respond to small snippets that catch their attention. Lying would be typing in something that the original poster didn't actually say, or maybe scrambling the sentences to change the context (I've never really seen anyone do that). If someone gets your context wrong, then you can let them know that isn't what you meant. That's part of discussion.
I'm not sure why there's a bee in your bonnet over PO commenting on your post, but she certainly did NOT misquote you.
