well, granted, but in this context? Christ, in the opening of the new dispensation, said this. Right after He--or His Apostles, at least--"profaned" it,
legally speaking. So i guess "in effect" has been made subjective now, as it should be imo.
Who can argue that one day of rest in seven is a bad idea? How does the installation of the dispensation of Grace negate this? Legally, is how. There is ostensibly no
moral aspect to the matter (although there ends up being, in a weird way)
i'm getting an image of a young child who does not want to go to bed. This is common in our culture--but i would argue that it is not normal, and a look at why this is prevalent for us is telling to me. Also, ignoring Saturday--or worse, to me, having the potus declare it "small business day," (the diametric opposite of "day of rest" to me) while there might still be "blue laws" in some areas prohibiting "work" in a sense on the
first day of the week sinks to profanity, for me at least.
Far from a day of rest, Saturday has become one of our most hectic days, for many; or at least it was for me. It was even often manic, at least for me. I am sure that others have different experiences, maybe live more country, or have to work on Saturday, etc., so i am happy with the way things are; sans the blue laws. Saturday is an island of sanity for me now--and to anyone who does not feel they need a day of rest, whatever day that is, i have no quarrel. i cannot "prove" that the Sabbath is still made for man, and i am not interested in trying.
i won't even lie--i was initially attracted to it mostly because i am a contrarian, trying to do something different than the world does. It is very hard to rest on Saturday. It literally costs one certain friends. But it has brought many unseen benefits.
