I'm about 13 miles from Athens. Athens is my home town. I'm not familiar with Philip. Do you know the name of his Church? Does he have a website?

Re: Favorite Bible for Preaching
I'm not a preacher, but my favorite study Bible is one called the Special Study Edition. It's a large print black Bible with a depiction of a sword on the front. I cannot locate the name of the publisher (in fact, the preface is simply signed as "The publisher"), but I think this is the same one.

It looks virtually identical to mine. One thing I love about it is that they've (suggestively) added red letter text to the OT, where God is speaking. Also, there's a vast amount of reference materials throughout, and in both the front and back of the Bible. I also like using the Thompson Chain Reference, as well.
As for my pastor, I'm sure he has a number of Bibles available to him, but when he preaches or teaches, he prefers his iPad.

Nice! I've looked at that one online a few times. I like the idea of red letter in the OT. Thanks for sharing. I've started using a laptop for me notes, but I still like reading from a printed Bible. One day I might be brave enough to try a tablet.

The Holy Apostolic Bible is multicolored in its digital format
It uses colors and Fonts to identify who is speaking.
Red------------------{Arial}-----------------words of Jesus.
Blue or Pink---------{Times New Roman}--words of people.
Brown----------------{Bookman Old style}-words of angels.
Dark Orange---------{Verdana}-------------words of Devil (Satan) and demons.
Green-----------------{Comic Sans MS}-----quotations in quotes.
Purple-----------------{Century}--------------quotations of Old Testament scripture.

My sister goes there. We live in separate towns, but I'll try to visit there with her.

Re: Favorite Bible for Preaching
I don't use a large size print...yet. I do use a Scofield reference Bible. I almost never read or use the notes. It was a gift to me when I was in college. It has lasted 30 years, and hopefully it will last another 30 years.

I bought a Scofield over 30 years ago because my dad had one. I cross out the notes, write notes arguing with the notes and like you just not use the notes! I've looked at getting a new bible but could never decide. I'll use my wife's Thompson chain and I have a paperback NKJV that I like to just read from. I always liked the center column reference. I may someday just get another new Scofield. Any suggestions?
