Re: Why I Am A Futurist

there seems to be quite a bit of difference of opinion as to where the New Jerusalem even is; or will be. Seems like the leaves being for the healing of the nations would put it on earth, the new earth?

Hebrews 12:22 says we already came to heavenly Jerusalem. It's not a physical city in that case.

Re: Why I Am A Futurist

ok, and yet we find measurements for the city, a physical description, etc, that none of us see. Also, other passages seem to indicate "future."

So do we toss Heb 12:22?

We also find distinct numbers of eyes and horns on the lamb.

Rev 1:1 says the contents are signified. Related by signs.

Jesus said we're a city set on a hill that cannot be hid. Isaiah said people would bow at the saints' feet and call them a city not forsaken. They didn't bow at the foundations of buildings.

When reading Revelation, it's a unique deal because it is a series of visions. And visions are 99% symbolic in the bible. Rarely are they actual in presentation. Did actual stars and sun and moon bow down to Joseph?

Revelation is interpreted by the rest of the bible. in this case, Heb 12:22 interprets the city for us. Jesus interpreted Babylon the great as Jerusalem.

Re: Why I Am A Futurist

The measurements of the temple in Rev 11 come out in years not cubits. It's symbolic of the gentiles treading Jerusalem 42 months. ... for example.

He is speaking of this measurement of the New Jerusalem, Mike...

Rev 22:16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.

17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

He wants you to explain the "other" meaning here.

This comes out to about 1400 miles square, what do you think it "symbolizes", since you dont believe it is a real city?

Nice! Fits with my convictions, for the most part. I might argue that Christ actually interpreted Jerusalem as Babylon; meaning "corrupted," but whatever.

Hmmm....the city is not a physical city, but the rest of these 6 entities are what they are?

Are all of them symbolic, or only the city?

22 But ye(living saints) are come unto (#1 invisible and real)mount Sion, and unto the (#2 invisible and real)city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and (#3 invisible and real)to an innumerable company of angels,

23 (#4 VISIBLE and real)To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and(#5 invisible and real) to God the Judge of all, and (#6 invisible and real)to the spirits of just men made perfect,

BTW..."And" means "also"
