As far as calling Jesus brother, refer to the following verses of Scripture:
Hebrews 2:9-12,
Quote:
9. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
10. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
12. Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

And
Romans 8:29,
Quote:
|
29. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
|
Matthew 28:10,
Quote:
|
Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

All three passages are clearly about Jesus, and both show that the man Christ Jesus had men, disciples, He declared to be His brothers.
He was and is not ashamed to call such people brothers, and so, neither my wife or I am ashamed to call Jesus our brother. We are His disciples, His students, and are members of His Father's family. He is the firstborn; we were born again and adopted (obviously much!!!) later.
