It seems the one baptizing is IMMERSING the person into the water but the person is calling on the name of Jesus washing away their sins.
The problem is we have separated repentance and baptism to far from each other. We changed the place where one calls on the Lord from the waters of baptism to a wooden altar. Or anyplace else for that matter.
The original plan seemed to have been to call on Jesus ON BAPTISM.
