I have always thought that this scripture was a powerful one.

Phil. 3:10-11
"That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death, if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead."

It is through the fellowship of his sufferings that our flesh learns to die here so that our spirit will live eternally with Him.
