I grew up in Jackson and wouldn't want to live there ever. But maybe I have some baggage you don't

San Diego!

Re: Job Promotion-- Sunny San Diego, CA

I stated that I didn't want to make any more decisions based on gut feelings and "notions".

But I DEFINITELY do not want to be self-willed either.

His sheep knows His Voice for sure...

I hope I am praying the right way. Really, I should not be wondering about this. But I am a guy who has made (what I consider to be) wrong decisions before-- based on unexplainable "bad feelings" or bad dreams that maybe happened because the situation was on my mind and my active imagination gave me a colorfully bad dream...

Bottom line I will fast AND pray.

and if His answer is, "Wait" and the time for decision comes and an answer is needed right then and there...

I'd like to think I'd wait and let the opportunity in my immediate reach go by. Hopefully, this is not how God decides to play this out.

Even with all of the above, still I know what it is like to make a decision clearly hearing from the Lord that this was not His Will. I was in a situation where I felt that since I had already committed myself in word, on paper, and with money, I felt like I just needed to go through with my decision. My friends, that was BY FAR the costliest, out-of-the-Will-of-God decision that I myself have ever made! I never want to go down that road ever, ever, again.

It's not official at this point BUT the only way I can see this not happening is if God somehow stops or blocks this AND if He does stop or block this, I am sure it would be for my good-- but I probably would be disappointed in the short term.

Anyway...

I got a couple serious questions regarding situations like this and I am looking for wisdom.

1) Is it safe to have a mindset that prays, "God if XYZ is not Your Will, then just don't let XYZ happen, don't allow it, God stop this from happening if it is not Your Will"?

2) In the middle of typing this post, the system forced me to login again and now the other question I have is lost because I can't remember it right now.
I hope this works out for you. There is no feeling worse than languishing.

Re: Job Promotion-- Sunny San Diego, CA

FYI,
It appears that one door has been shut. I applied for a position that would be a promotion and allow me to stay in Cleveland.

I have asked for a reconsideration because I figured that my background and experience would make me highly competitive for this position.

Disappointed? Yes.

End of the world? No.

So in the past, when something like this happened, I found myself under heavy temptation to start blaming this, that, and the other. Then, I complained to God about how He failed me and that He always keeps good things from me, "while there are millions literally millions of people who don't even think about you-- let alone pray!" I would literally say these things and sadly, sometimes I have thought and said much, much worse.

I am so grateful for His Grace and Mercy in my life!

Not so long ago, in the foolishness of my humanity, He didn't let me drown in my frustrations, my accusations, and rage. He heard my every utterance of vile anger and irrational despair and He did not turn away from me. Oh no! He held His Hand out to me.

I tried to turn and run away from Him, but He would not let me go.

Today, He is holding me up with a personal sense of confidence in His Loving Providence for me, my career, my life.

I have not always handled disappointment with a personal sense of confidence in God's Love for me. Yet today, this time, things are different.

Today is a day of disappointment, yes, but it is also a day of victory-- and I am rising to tell this motley crew of saints and sinners that the God of our good days is the God of our bad days too! His joy is our strength! His Word is our Bread! His Spirit is our Life! And His Will!

His Will-- the same Divine Will that guides our feet in our darkest nights, the same Divine Will that blesses His children every good and perfect gift from the Hand of the One who does not change like shifting shadows!

His Will-- is good! His Will is acceptable! His Will is Perfect!

And we are COMPLETE in Him-- who is the head of ALL rule and authority!

In this day of disappointment, I lack nothing! I am not broken! I am whole, healed, DELIVERED and HIS DIVINE POWER has given us EV-ER-Y-THING we need for LIFE AND for godliness through the KNOWLEDGE of Him who has called us to HIS OWN Glory and Goodness!

Through the KNOWLEDGE. Through the KNOWLEDGE! Through the KNOWLEDGE of what or through the knowledge of WHO? It is through the KNOWLEDGE of GOD and in our dark and dreary days it is GOD who is calling us to HIS OWN GLORY and HE is calling us to the KNOWLEDGE of His Goodness!

What do you KNOW about your GOD?

What do you KNOW about your GOD?

In the emptiness of disappointment, in the pain of loneliness, in the numbness of our sometimes seemingly mundane existence, in the clutches of that dread disease, on the mountaintop and in the valley, in the floods and in the fire-- WHAT do you KNOW about your GOD?!
