Re: Prayed over a drowning victim...was resurrecte
OK, I placed the Makita battery into an old DC-18RA Makita charger. It has the red light flashing. Which means two things, one the battery is overheated, and two the battery is defective. Pulled the Makita battery apart and found one cell is oxidized. Yet, all the battery cells checked out nice. Still shows a full charge.
Will not be putting battery back on any of my chargers. Because when you persist placing a "defective battery" or "hot battery" onto a charger. You will fry the pcb board. Then the unit needs to have a new board installed. While I had the battery apart I sprayed it with Paslode cordless tool cleaner (part no. 219348) and cleaned the oxidized terminal. I personally believe that I may have to take an old lap top and use the battery cells from it to replace the one cell in this Makita if it fails. I highly doubt that this is some sort of Elijah situation like the meal and the Ted cruse of oil. Where it just keeps working without stopping. I reassembled the battery and stuck it back into the gun. Will find out Monday how she does.

They don't chooch and they aren't very skookum.
But they are like your godhead.
Rigid is Ryobi and Milwaukee are made by TTi. Rigid being the licensed Home Depot brand. Makita is One and only one.

I was a Makita fan until.....I now get a lifetime warranty on not only tools, but the batteries. I can easily return them to Home Depot.

Sean, that is because Rigid is a homeowner tool. That is why Milwaukee is their professional line, and Ryobi their bottom do it yourselfer line. Ever hammer a 2x4 back into place with the battery end of your gun? I can't afford to stop working to run my gun to Home Depot for an exchange. So, when were you a Makita fan? When you worked everyday? Then you retired a bought the Ridgid. It is called Slippage. This is a term that companies use when they have lifetime guarantees. They sell an item (like your gun) which isn't put through everyday grueling work like Metabo, Makita, and Hilti. Slippage is when people actually don't return the items, or wait so long that the item is no longer available. Craftsman, Snap-On, Channel Lock, all have lifetime guarantees, and they break under heavy use. But, Brother and Sister Foofoofnick aren't going to hammer their Craftsman, Snap-On or Channel Lock everyday that sitting in the garage. I don't own Makita, because "if" it breaks I get a new one. I own it because it out performs the competition.

I hear you, but my last Makita drill batteries only lasted about a year. I was pricing new ones and saw they were nearly as much as a new drill. I do a lot of dry rot repairs and the Ridgid kit works as advertised. Thing is, unless I drop it in a pool... Lol, I just get a new one. I don't ever have to buy another one again....for life.
Battery costs are high for Makita stuff also.
The Ridgid drills are beasts.(almost snapped my wrist on one, which flew across the garage on a seized bolt)
The sawzall can jump out of your hands.
The sidewinder auto shuts down under a load momentarily. But that is rectified with a new blade.
I even have a stackable cart for all the tools when packing it around the house, made by Ridgid.
However, when it comes to serious construction, a good ol worm drive saw is most reliable.
I went to buy an American made worm drive a couple months ago, then noticed Skilsaw is Chinese now.....guess what I settled for, right, a Ridgid worm drive with lifetime warranty.
The country has changed in 30 years, huh?
