I use 6 batteries that are from 2005, two from 2015, one from 2016.
Come tell me about your TTi batteries in 12 years.
Take apart a Rigid battery and the circuit board looks like one from a transistor radio. Ridgid battery after putting in 50 lag bolts get hotter than Texas asphalt.
But forget all that, I need reliability, I need consistency, I need dependability.
I can't be running to Home Depot in the middle of a job. Snap On, Cornwell, and MAC, come to the shop. That's the beauty of those companies who service PROFESSIONALS. Yet, when you blow a seal on an air ratchet, you need to wait until the Snap-On man comes by. The tools I use are tried, tested, and serviced by me. I have a brother who uses Rigid on the job, If the Rigid bails out, he would walk over to my truck to borrow my 2005 Makita. A 12 year old gun that is still reliable and dependable. The brother with the Rigid admits that Makita is the work horse, and Rigid is the home owner gun. These are the facts.

Makita battery costs BL1830B which is 88.95 to 66.95. BL1820B 97.00 for two.
Then there are aftermarket batteries which are really nice that have Smasung circuit boards with 18650 Sony battery cells. Which I find are even better than stock. Their solder connections internally aren't cheesy, and match the quality of the Makita brand battery. Yet, even better is that a Makita battery can be taken apart, and failed cells replaced, and PCB replaced. for about 10 dollars or less. I have batteries that are chooching away for 12 years. Do I need to return a battery?

Free replacement to anything I buy, for life.
I find old Ridgid tools at yard sales and they always fire up. Only batteries quit.
Same with old Makita stuff, and the only ancient batteries that last a long time are the Nicd batteries, but they go kaput in a short while of operation.(9.6 volt).
I think the Ridgid drills are solid, so for the application, it is a perfect fit.
A house framer, etc. uses plug in tools, and these battery tools do not apply.

Bro Benincasa.
When did you get into carpentry?
What is happening around here?
Where is everyone and who is on first?
Houston, do we have a problem?

Always was doing something. Even when I was with the angry bridge troll. I remember messing around with trusses up in Utah with my favorite old brother. The one who had white hair since his birth. But for a while I’ve been working with the brothers who own different construction companies. Also doing mechanics on everything that has moving parts. But still doing Bible studies on the streets of Broward. Just hammering out longer hours.
