The verses I was looking at were in the Gospels, some from things Jesus said or as described as wearing.
They didn't wear visible trousers like we wear. Over their underwear, which the only thing we have to go by here is that Exodus passage which describes something like boxer shorts, they wore a tunic, which basically was a long shirt. A cloak was worn over this. So regarding the tunic, it was more skirt-like than like our trousers. In the larger Greco-Roman world, trousers were not worn by men, except by the Germans and others regarded as barbarians.
