Re: 2 Parishioners Shot and Killed Texas Church Gu
Sad to see this happening in church. No place is safe or sacred any more, not even houses of worship and prayer.
I saw an edited video of the shooting.
First, the hero who stopped a likely massacre is no ordinary Joe. He's former law enforcement. I counted about 4.5 to 5 seconds from the time the first shot went off to the time the ex LEO took out the shooter. That's incredibly quick reaction time. Also, from what I can see on the video, it was a one shot kill. I tried estimating the distance and believe it's about 40 to 50 feet or more between the ex LEO and the killer, and he shot him in the head with one shot.
There's probably 1 out of 1,000 ordinary church going concealed carriers who could do that. That's important for people to understand. Stage this exact incident with someone else returning fire and the results would be much different every time. Ordinary Joe would likely have fired several rounds before even hitting the killer, much less ending the threat.
Second, the video I saw blurred the back of the church where he shot and killed someone, but it appears he got up and was talking with someone before stepping back, pulling the rifle out and opening fire. I'm curious at what he said.
Third, if you see the video, watch the guy in the blue sweater vest towards the middle of the bottom of the frame. Everyone else is diving for cover and he just sits there. It's amazing to me how he just sits there while chaos is erupting around him.
Lastly, the congregation is 90% senior citizens. The killer is in a dark overcoat with the hood over his head. Either the man visited there before and was known to them or they aren't real observant. The church I attend is smaller so anyone looking as out of place as that guy did would draw attention. Even in a similar sized church I previously attended, someone in an overcoat wearing a hood would draw attention.
Again, very sad that this is happening in churches today.
