He said the worship was like the golden calf worship that Moses encountered and that it was driven by "another spirit".
Who was in charge of the worship?
POA...
So what does it really matter at this point what he wrote concernng VM and POA in the past?
His comments about the camp worship...driven primarily as influenced by POA...must show that he now disagrees with the direction not only of the camp, but of the influencing factor--POA.
It occurs to me that there was a very harsh judgment made concerning the style of music beng used in worship by some very capable people.
It occurs to me that there were many seasoned preachers and ministers in the auditorium that obviously had no problem with the spirit of the thing, including the Manguns...seeing MM and their praise team was in charge.
It occurs to me that it seems OK to lamblast the campmeeting as being "other spirited" or demonic and one gets a pass because of age.
It occurs to me that some on this forum will defend this one man's sentiment to the hilt just because of where this offense came from (LA Dist.) and who actually propagated this "demonic spirited worship" akin to the golden calf of Moses' fame (the POA praise team).
It occurs to me that Bro. Strange went too far in his comments.
It occurs to me that feelings can be deceptive...even if you are older.
It occurs to me that there are still a whole bunch of people who worship because of style and not because of content.
It occurs to me that if you pay more attention to the lyrics than you do to the genre and you might actually find God in the song!
Again, I don't think he was being literal in his comments about the music, and I'm sure that wasn't the first time he'd heard those songs, but I believe he was speaking in the spiritual sense, and that's not something 'heard' by everyone, and I dare say 'most'.

"The music was the sound of worship of an idol made of gold. Such sounds will always be different than that of divine consecreation music."
How much "literal" can you get??
Just admit that he was out of line with these statements..............please!!
Again, I think there is more to it than what you are seeing. I think there was something more heard by him, as I'm sure it wasn't the first time BS had ever heard those songs being sung.
I have 'felt' things in music before, even though I'd heard the songs sung and some of them I really liked, but the spirit was different, and since BS was speaking about the spiritual side of the campmeeting, I thought he was referring to the spiritual side of the music as well.

You will have to forgive me on this one but I cannot see, or do not understand, how you think his comments were not literal and can be separated from the actual occurance and those with whom this occurance took place.
You can try to cover him all you want, but the bottom line is this, he said the worship was golden calf worship, that means the worshipppers (ESPECIALLY THOSE LEADING IT) were golden calf worshippers...
Now that right there is a pretty lethal charge against the camp!
