At once, A. D. Urshan had a pastorate in New York City, I believe it was in the 1930s. He was in a restaurant where a band was simply playing that tune but of course it was not a christian tune at that time. WBC, took the music and put those words to it.
Bro. A. D. Urshan was so moved that they would be playing what he thought was a One God song. He approached the band and asked if he could sing it. With permission granted, he proceeded to sing the words that you quoted above. He sung with such a great anointing that when he was finished, there was a time of total silence as people dried their eyes. While still weeping, the great crowd of people in that resturant stood to their feet and gave bro. Urshan a long lasting applause.
The whole place remained in the grips of that great anointing for a long while.
Sounds like the world creeping in the church. That is the sound of the world!!! There was a change wasn't there?...
I didn't know that Baptist/Charismatic was synonymous with Catholic. Are you basing your statement on the fact that his statement of beliefs is solely the Nicene Creed?
LOL!! That had me wondering also. The last I knew of Gary Oliver he was active in the Charismatic circles, particularly in black churches.
I have neer heard this charge that he is now Roman Catholic. I don't know too many Roman Catholic's who jam with Black Gospel style music at churches like he does. Hmmm......
I have not been on the intenet since last Friday mroning so have only read the first page of this thread.
As far as the initial protests against this thread I say bullhockey!!! Brother Strange is big enough to dish it out and I am willing to be he is big enough to take it.
I think what sometimes happens in older saints / preachers is they don't like the style, etc of new music and this dislike gets confused with it being spritually wrong, of the devil, etc.
Just like I might dislike church music featuring a banjo enough that I could easily convince myself it was of a "bad spirit"! LOL
I didn't see the original posts quoted where Brother Strange didn't like the music. I thought he had just had a problem with the prophecy.
I have redneck friends and relatives who think any gospel music that is not Southern Gospel is of the devil.
I don't like much of the contemporary gospel music but I don't demonize it.
I don't normally take a brother to task about this word, but this just isn't allowed here.
I mean, bullhockey? It's rude and crude..........
Bullfootball, on the other hand...........
