I just came back from a great BreakfastBrunch. With a coupon it was 4 for @ 15 bucks.

It was at the complex of one our towns gambling river boats (not actully on the boat)

I almost do not feel good about going there, but we did not go near where the gaming tables and slotr machines are.

When the gaming boats first came, the boats had to actually cruise the river.
Legislation then pssed that said they could remain at the dock.

Now 15 years later, legistlation is in the works that they can build on shore.

I know I regularly see comercials on the "radio" for gamblers anonamous, for people who have lost everything on these boats.

Yes thay bring jobs, economic development, tourism dollars...but at what cost.

However, day traders are an entirely different matter. It could be argued that daytrading is similar and dissimilar to gambling and stock market ownership. It would depend upon the totality of the situation to find which catagory a person's day trading lined them up with....

Yes, if you don't know what you are doing and just throwing your money in the market as if it were a dart thrown at a dart-board while blind-folded and hoping to catch a fish....then, indeed, you are gambling.

However, if you understand the market and know how to implement good risk/reward ideas and understand value, then daytrading is not like gambling.

With the help of the Lord, we have been typically outspent over 10-1 in money and have won 2-1 at the ballot.

The government has no business being in the gambling business. It is a regressive tax which preys on those who can least afford it. It places the government's fiscal irresponsibility on the backs of those who earn the least without regard for their welfare except to throw them a "bone" by using a minuscule portion of the revenues for problem gamblers.
There is a new home being raffled off at $50.00 a ticket for charity here in Amarillo. My wife and I thought about getting a Ticket.

If it's for charity causes I see not problem.....when the Local lotto gets real high I usually get a couple of tickets.

I do not see some gambling bad.. It falls into the moderation thing again.

That would be pretty tough. When was the last time you saw a fish leap out of the water right in front of a dart board?

I'll bet you could sell tickets to see that!!!!

The lottery, casinos, property taxes, the Kelo decision, and the National ID act are all simply tools to enslave the population.

Therefore, I hereby deem them evil and ubb dub debbuw.

I have been saying for 15 years that the lottery is a tax on people that don't understand statistics.

What is truly amazing is how the states sell these gambling schemes as a way to boost the coffers and the economy, but don't bother to explain how, exactly, they turn a profit. And then they're short at the close of the year anyhow!

As far as bible goes, I think I remember reading an admonition against gambling, but not a commandment. The principle is certainly in there, both allegorically and in the sense of not letting things have power over us.

I can't participate in things like this; just personal convictions. I guess if it's a "Chance", I consider it gambling. Others don't see it that way. We never have raffles or cakewalks or anything like that at church functions, because there are so many differing ideas about gambling.

We won't even do cakewalks (where you have to pay) or raffles or anything like that, because literally those are gambling and we try to stay away from any form of it. Maybe that's legalistic in a sense, but I think you have to draw a line somewhere.

Woo hoo!!! Did I finally make the legalism list?????
