Jesus taught to not retaliate, not to repay evil with evil. How are you all truning the words of Christ around?
So if a man was raping your wife and daughters you'd just stand by and let him. What if you prayed and he didn't stop?

I would protect my family without hesitating even to the use of deadly force. No it's not bravado speaking it the love for my family. Now once the perp is down and of no harm then I'd be glad to lay hands on him prayfully for his life to be restored.

OK, me and Brother Strange.

How do you interpret it, then? Why did Jesus think they should have any swords at all, regardless of how many for the twelve?

As far as the two swords, these men went out in pairs of two, correct? There were 12 men, correct? So figuring that these two swords went out with two groups, what did the other five groups use for protection? This is too funny!
Friend, you are the one who has stated that OT scritpure is of no use in the discussion. my point is, that if you will say that about this discussion, then you must logically live by that rule on all points. music included.

until you accept OT scritpure as valid, you need to stop playing music in church.

If a bullfrog had wings he wouldn't bump his tail every time he hopped.

Let me help you out here. First thing the "one" rapist would have to get passed me. No violence, I never had to use violence with an unruly child.
In the world I never had to beat the snot out of an individual to remove them from the bar. Even when they were angry and wanted to rip my head off, I always was able to escort the individual WITHOUT harm. Now since I'm among the defenseless Christians I see that through prayer the Lord Jesus Christ will protect my family and see them all the way through.

I totally understand that my wife and children are in the arms of Jesus Christ.
I totally understand that I'm not allowed to use deadly force no matter what. Since I depend on Jesus to be able to take care of the rest then that's all I will have.

Now my question for you my Brother is this, if a gang attacks your family what will you do? Think about it real well before you answer me.

Also to you carry a handgun?

What an analogy?!?

Just don't break in my house and try to harm my family....there would be no need for an exit....

You most likely have gray hair because you are scared out of your mind that you need to stash a weapon in your house. How long will it take you to get to it? If you're sleeping and they don't get the make on you will you reach it in time? If you are out and about and you're attacked what will you do since you don't have your weapon? More than one attacker outside your home what do you do?

Trusting in the words of Jesus will help you out in the long run. Do you believe that Jesus can perform miracles today? Just asking.

To quote a Brother: "If a bullfrog had wings he wouldn't bump his tail every time he hopped."

Prayer is always the right and first option, deadly force is the option of last resort.

As to whether I "carry" or not is between me and Jesus, and the State......:sshhh

Just to ease your mind a bit, I have actually been assualted and did not lift a hand to stop it. I was told I could have used deadly force and been justified in the eyes of the Law. But I can not see killing a young man over things I consider trivial. I let him walk away and did not persue the matter. Some questioned me for that, I did not, because I did not want my name to be n the public record where if he came after me or my family and I might not have as much of the Holy Ghost and actually kill him,
