Goodness... are you guys reading my post at all.

I said I do know... I apologized for not answering when it was first asked... and I said I will post in a little bit... It takes some time to pull the scriptures together.

WHEW>...

If I can ever get through answering posts that are questioning my apology.

but I dont think any of us do not pay tithes. How can you disregard something so plain in scripture?

I also think that some of our posters have had experiences with pastors who took 100% of the tithes but neglected the church finances, and serious consequences came from that.....so they are a little more sensitive on the tithing issue...

the rest of us have been lucky to have a pastor who is a good steward of all the money that comes in the church and is careful to pay the church bills and be in good standing in the community
Good thoughts Theresa!

Dude, I thought you said that there was not scripture to be forced to pay tithe. Make up your mind.

Our church financials are an open book, anyone, at any time can see how much comes in and where it goes. The only thing you cannot see is who actually gives what..but you can see how much comes in and where they spend it.
Theresa, I am not picking on you. I am quoting you because I have some legitimate questions, and you are just saying things before I have a chance to ask them.

How about this situation: What if a pastor took over a church, Membership dropped from perhaps 150 to 25 in a matter of months due to him running the church as a dictator instead of a pastor.

Church secretary and board members all gave up positions.

Bank required so many signatures on church account for funds to be released from account. Pastor signs the checks. Members who were left were held responsible. Said pastor drains church treasury, there are not enough funds left to pay bills of church.

Pastor is taking in all tithing. Pastor is writing checks on church account from what little offerings are there to pay bills.

Pastor is in charge of the account due to no one filling secretarial position. There's not enough money coming in to pay bills due to members being run off.

About the tithing- Pastor refuses to use his personal account to deposit tithing. He demands another church account be set up to hold those funds, and he wants one board member or someone else to sign blank checks for him to use from that account. If the account is overdrawn, church membership will be held responsible. Anyone have info on IRS laws as pertaining to this kind of thing?

I dont know what you read but I thought D4T said he didnt think the pastor should get 100% of the tithes.....he didnt say he didnt pay tithes all together, but he said he didnt see IN SCRIPTURE where it says the pastor gets ALL OF IT

Okay folks...

I am out of this conversation...

This is why I don't get into these conversations because people get in attack mode and can't read clearly.

What I said was this....

Quote:
But...nowhere in the Bible were there any laws given where the ministry was ever given all of the tithe to keep for themselves.
You are correct... you THOUGHT I said that there was no scripture to be forced to pay tithe...

I don't need to make up my mind because I haven't contradicted myself.

Although I do have thoughts along that way as well.

But one doesn't teach how to properly carve a roast in the presence of wolves.

Thanks anyway....
