There are people who have been driven away from God by Pharisees posing as 'Apostolics.' Countless others have been hurt, injured, or spiritually or motivationally handicapped in some way. People have lost their confidence, had their trust violated, and souls are headed for hell because of it. The offended aren't going to take their children back to the place where they got their first religious slap in the face.
Guys like you and me defend conservatism because we see the good in it, and probably live proper overcoming spirit-filled lives. It's uncomfortable and unnerving to face and acknowledge the negative aspects associated with our particular set of beliefs and lifestyle selections.

Yes well, this all is true - on
both sides of the fence. I've seen the negative consequences and hypocrisy on THIS side and people have been hurt to the point of backsliding and losing out with God as a result of leaving their roots and the terra firma of tradition and solid doctrine.
So ..... that's the way it is.
