There are people who have been driven away from God by Pharisees posing as 'Apostolics.' Countless others have been hurt, injured, or spiritually or motivationally handicapped in some way. Guys like you and me defend conservatism because we see the good in it, and probably live proper overcoming spirit-filled lives. It's uncomfortable and unnerving to face and acknowledge the negative aspects associated with our particular set of beliefs and lifestyle selections.

Yes well, this all is true - on both sides of the fence. I've seen the negative consequences and hypocrisy on THIS side and people have been hurt to the point of backsliding and losing out with God as a result of leaving their roots and the terra firma of tradition and solid doctrine.

So ..... that's the way it is.

You forget, to even get there you need the clues from "the diary".... the book that is a compilation of a lifetime of clues as to its secret location and the three deadly traps that one must overcome! And even through all that, one must be vigilant, for the evil NAZI party is ALSO on the hunt for the diary. Trust no one! Not even me!

Many years ago we had a pastor who fit that description. If he walked through a public place where one was turned on, he would make a big "show" of averting his gaze as he walked by.

I'm confused.

This implies that they didn't lose out with God in their first turning away? It looks to me that you're saying that a liberal church is just a layover stop in a conservative's long, long journey of backsliding.

Is that in there, or am I finding things you didn't intend?

Like I've said before, once one has started to compromise doctrine and truth, not only is it difficult to know where to draw the line, since they have established that they're a compromiser, but they also have compromised their ability to discern untruth.

I know of a church that was out of town at a big meeting. They didn't want to miss some big game.

A friend of mine went to the hotel room where they were all catching the game.

They had the TV on... game playing... and a towel laid over the TV.
