As humans that void is filled when we recieve His spirit into us... that being said it not a "nesting" place for the Holy Ghost but we are to be vessels unto His Glory...
The Holy Ghost is a operational gift...

John uses it throughout his epistles ... these men believe in the priesthood of all believers

I agree. However, again, he did contrast little children from young men and fathers in the same epistle.
Anyway, abiding in Him is a command to the little children. This would go unsaid if it was automatic.

Now, RevRandy,
I wasn't directing this thread to an issue. Quite to the contrary, we need to move away from issue-oriented thinking to SOUL-oriented thinking. We can certainly appreciate The excellent Foundation we are standing on, but move forward to the task of building the House of God with a fresh anointing and energy.
302,875,487 SOULS are waiting for us to get our eyes off The Foundation and prepare a beautiful, inviting House of God where they are welcomed, ministered to and nurtured into His great kingdom. That's 302+ million SOULS who continue to wait while we debate, argue and sermonize our individual perspectives and takes on nonsensical issues...or better yet, continue to preach to one another until we're blue in the face...reassuring ourselves that we "still believe what we've always believed."
If we had a determination and strong confidence in our doctrine and ministry, and didn't need reassuring so much, maybe we could accomplish real evangelism that was effective and far-reaching.
I'm happy to give my brother and sister leeway on issues while joining with them in reaching SOULS. I'll respect and give the local pastor the authority and mandate to teach and preach as the Lord directs him, but in the greater scheme of evangelism, let's get with God's mandate to reach the world...we could start next door...

Souls are indeed a priority, but one needs to personally become more "spiritual", which is maturity, in order to reach souls. WE WILL WIN SOULS if we are spiritually mature. So the "issue" of spirituality is apart from souls, but is integral to winning souls. We cannot disregard spiritual maturity for the sake of winning souls, as though we should not interest ourselves in reaching maturity.
I say this because so many people I have met wonder why anyone delves into the depths of the Word, such as Hebrews and Romans and Ephesians. If one were to accept these questions from these people, it is a wonder Paul ever bothered to write what he did! "Why bother, Paul? We need to win souls! Forget spiritual growth." But spiritual growth is integral to winning souls.
Referring back to John's epistle, when he spoke of "fathers", spiritually mature believers, we all know that the term implies begetting -- reproducing -- winning souls.
RevBuddy, I know you are not speaking against stress upon personal growth, but I think this note should be mentioned, as I have run across enough believers who wondered about the purpose of teaching the depths of the Word while they railed about our need to win souls instead to know that this needs to be mentioned.

Is this intended as a jab against Praxeas? Just wondering! Carry on with the topic/

Mfblume,
You're right in what you say. Certainly, when I use the term, "issues," you can be sure it is NOT encompassing spirituality or spiritual growth. As you have eloquently stated, spiritual growth and maturity are essential to the life of the believer and ministry.
I love digging in the Word. I am always fascinated by the knowledge and vastness insight that one, seemingly simple verse possesses. I am a lover of the Word and I cherish each study into Its depths...we must do that together sometime...

My pastor taught on this last night. One of the things that stuck with me is him saying we can have knowledge and truth but without the anointing we won't get anywhere. He was encouraging us to pray and seek the Lord for his guidance and power....God working with them.
Mk 16:20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
