Oh Yes! UPC preachers do this all the time. They even investigate the background of someone who might be marrying a person from their church. I know of many, many, many scenarios where preachers went digging for information about a saint.

Example: One young woman in California (first marriage) was gonna marry a guy from another state and the pastor in California went to calling this man's previous pastors and trying to dig up all kinds of stuff. The preacher lied to the woman about what he said he found out about the man. Made her call off the wedding. Only to find out in the end that this preacher had made numerous sexual advances to this woman and several others in his church. If I called his name - most every one would recognize it. He still holds a license and pastor a church. This happened about 15 years ago.
The problem you describe (if it happened as you describe) is one where not enough investigation goes on.

FN, I think this is not common at all. These types of incidents are mostly history.

And you do nothing about it? After all you do have the evidence of what you are stating as fact? If the Pastor you speak of is doing what you say, he is a shame to the name of Jesus and you need to go bring the evidence to the District Board and it needs to be investigated and adjudicated. What if he keeps doing what you stated; doesn't he need to be stopped?

NOT! What effect will this have on the specific indecent/Pastor that was mentioned? Not a thing. It's a shame to bring up accusations without evidence. No doubt this could be true or perhaps someone had it in for this Pastor and started a nasty rumor. Either way if I there is evidence it should not but swept under the rug.

LOL...I think it is silly to bring up that stuff in vague references without a shred of proof.

The motive behind that stuff is as plain as day.

Fill in the blank:
But it has to be true I heard it ____.
A) from a church member who knows all the news
B) reading the internet. They can't put things that are untrue on there can they?
C) on the radio.
D) in a email that was forwarded less than 12 times.

Do you really think so, S.H.? Not doubting you or trying to pick a fight...
