Too bad they didn't have a local Christian TV station! The only offensive thing would have been someone talking about somebody "accepting" Christ into their hearts! 
The same lesson could have been used plipping through the local radio stations, unless there was a "Christian" station.
As someone already mentioned, things would have gotten ugly REAL fast had he used the internet as an object lesson! 
A better lesson is teaching folks to use their godly conscience when listening or watching media, and to make godly choices in allowing what they will watch or listen to!

I just had to endure an informal dinner with the most hateful bile-spewing ultra conservative I'd ever met. Ugh. I'm not even a liberal. "Bile" was the word that entered my mind 2 minutes after I met him, and I didn't change my mind before he left. I doubt anyone on here knows him and I think his church runs about 11, literally (which doesn't surprise me).

I think the whole "push vs. pull" argument is a screen for some preachers to try and keep the radicals from outlawing the Internet.
It's hard enough now for a man to get around his district board and watch Fox News without having some angry luddite coming along to turn off the Internet. 
Your "better lesson" is of course the ideal. But when have we ever gone for ideals?

I know of a prominent UPC preacher who peppers his sermons with references to things he has seen on TV. I have listened to about four or five of his sermons over the last two or three years and they all had them. I thought it was pretty funny. I am surprised he has not had more flack from it but he still gets invited to speak at pretty big meetings.

That's also going to go down as one BIG reason for us NOT to be on television. You really want to go to work and have your buddies ask you about the enema you supposedly get at church?
I'd like to see us do television- but I demand quality programming.
