I have seen so many lies posted. The best one is the one Triumphant 1 did his best to combat. You know, the hair cutting party thing?

Prominent members of this board chose to believe the lie and even continue to spread it, even though T1 had totally proved it was false.

It isn't about mind control; it is about encouraging people to make good decisions.

And furthermore, right or wrong, when something has been preached into the conscience of people, you are doing great damage when you try and remove it.

Especially when tv has virtually no redeeming value.

The same cannot be said of the internet.
Then encourage them make good decisions. Teach them how to tell what sort of programming to stay away from. Teach what worldliness is then they can not only use it OUT there in the world and on the internet but on TV too. This is a principle we need for life everywhere. Just legislating "no TV" is not going to make them more spiritual.

And it remains to be seen that TV has "virtually no redeeming value"...that's the same broken record we here over and over as if we are all supposed to just agree with you on it. I do not agree with you on it. It's not TV that has redeeming value or does not have redeeming value and neither does the Internet. They are both neutral mediums that can be used for whatever purpose that people use it for. Same goes for print and radio. We didn't let the devil have the internet all to himself, why do the same with TV?

  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Right! To defend internet and see no similarity to TV is absurd. What gives? People are just blinded to follow a rule, though, and in such cases there is no sound reasoning. If it breaks their rule, they will fight against it to the end, no matter how inconsistent they are with allowance of internet.

The fact is, folks, that internet came in before the folks could know what happened, and the preacher's magazine actually stated that they are too late to forbid internet. So they said they would teach people to be Christians with it! (What a concept-- Be Christians!) But since it was let by, without notice, it is now relegated to what the TV issue would have been relegated to had it slipped by as well.

Do not miss it -- if internet was caught before it spread abroad, it would have been banned as much as TV was. But since it slipped by we have folks who do not know the details of what transpired about the issue, and blindly defend internet and copndemn TV.

It reminds me of the high heel shoe issue. One store front church was close to a red light district, and the women were being confused for prostitutes as they walked those sidewalks on their way to church in high heels. Sinc ehigh heels were not commonly worn around there, the mistake was easy to make for "Johns". So the preacher wisely told them women to not wear them, due to the unique situation. Well, that was all distorted in time and the reason was lost and forgotten, and iot became a rule in many othe rchurches -- NO HIGH HEELS. Same with the net and TV.

The same cannot be said of the internet.
Redeeming value huh?

Over 80% of everything posted on the internet daily is pornographic in nature...the same cannot be said about the TV.

The internet has no fed agency like the FCC controlling the content therefore all forms of sexual fetishes can be broadcast without restraint (with the exception of Child porn which is regulated by the FBI and law enforcement...but not the FCC)...the same cannot be said about TV.

There are multiple child abductions and child predators every SECOND on the internet trolling around, striking up conversations with children, and setting up places to meet for sexual favors...the same cannot be said about the internet.

Nudity and sensuality is not restricted...even on the popular teenage sites like youtube...the same cannot be said about TV.

Pornography can be seen FOR FREE on the internet...the same cannot be said about TV...

There are many informative shows on TV, that have no sexual connotations to them...there are even shows about how to protect your kids from the internet...there are shows that entertain in a healthy way...there is Vicky Yohe...not everything on TV is bad like you seem to insinuate...

So where exactly is this TV has no redeeming value like the internet does? Looks to me like the internet is a much worse monster in your home!

I was actually going to reply with that but I chose not too.

On a side note. At GNC they have had times where someone registered and then posted porn. We have been lucky so far and vigilant, but it can happen. One thing you don't find on TV is the randomness of individuals. Internet allows communication and interaction which is what has made it a boom for predators and porn peddlers and even terrorists. You can't do that with TV

It is like they are incapable of seeing this fact...

They have convinced themselves of the "redeeming value/no redeeming value" mantra that was put out during the first TV debate in recent history by the cons...

Fact is, I have not pastored ONE TV problem...but have had to deal with the Internet on several occasions...and I would be safe to bet that the same is true for the other pastors here....

  • 12% OF ALL INTERNET WEBSITES ARE PORNOGRAPHIC.
  • 25% OF ALL INTERNET SEARCHES ARE PORNOGRAPHIC.
  • 35% OF ALL INTERNET DOWNLOADS ARE PORNOGRAPHIC.
  • EVERY SECOND 28,258 INTERNET USERS ARE VIEWING PORNOGRAPHY.
  • EVERY SECOND $89.00 IS SPENT ON INTERNET PORNOGRAPHY.
  • EVERY DAY 266 NEW PORN SITES APPEAR ON THE INTERNET.
  • "SEX" IS THE MOST SEARCHED WORD ON THE INTERNET.
  • U.S. REVENUE FROM PORN ON THE INTERNET FOR 2006 WAS $2.84 BILLION.
  • 72% OF INTERNET PORN USERS ARE MEN.
  • 70% OF INTERNET PORN USE OCCURS DURING THE 9-5 WORKDAY.
  • THERE ARE AN ESTIMATED 372,000,000 PORN WEB PAGES, 3% PRODUCED BY THE U.K, 4% PRODUCED BY GERMANY, AND 89% PRODUCED BY THE USA.

With even U.S. preachers saying internet is okay, but TV is not, no wonder the stats exist as they do for the USA. lol

You will not find those stats associated with TV!! Something is upsidedown!

I'll take the heat...but it is true.

TV is much safer than the Internet any day!!! There are way too many horror stories out there to prove it...

Have you ever watched, "To Catch A Predator" on MSNBC.....they haul them in by the dozens setting up an Internet sting in cities around the states...these guys think they are going to meet some child they hooked up with on the Internet...but NO...it is that news reporter and the local police...

No meetings like that have ever been set up by a predator using TV...but the Internet has "redeeming value" and TV does not....
