BTW, I have a little bit of a problem with your continued labeling of myself and others as three-steppers. There are truly only two steps a new believer makes - repentance and baptism. Obedience to those two commands is our responsibility. The outpouring of the Spirit is GOD's responsibility.

I cannot stress enough that the message of Pentecost is an imperative, not a request. The men asked "what shall we do?" Peter responded "repent and be baptized' and then added FOR the remission of sins.

Key word is for.

There is no remission without repentance and baptism.

Period.

Baptism to Dan is a commandment to be obeyed and is representative of an already regenerated mind but baptism does not regenerate.....according to what I have understood of Dan's writings in this forum.

The way you phrased it was that Dan "believes in the necessity of water baptism for salvation" ...and that is now how he believes it.

He has stated numerous times that he believes it is the proper response for a saved individual....I'm sure he would say that if someone denied and willingly refused baptism, that would be a clear indication that that person's faith was not genuine...

...I'm also sure he would say that a person is saved if they did not have an opportunity to be baptized like in the many cases where a person genuinely believed the saving gospel message and surrendered their heart to God and died before getting an opportunity to be baptized....the latter part of your statement correctly represents what DA believes (the highlighted portion).

Loving a brother and obeying any other of the Lord's commands is indicative of someone who Loves the Lord....it is the fruit that bears witness that someone has truly believed. While anyone can fake the tongues [watch BORAT for evidence] ...nobody can consistently fake a life that shows fruit and demonstrates the fruits of the Spirit...a life that professes to love the gospel and lives the gospel...that can be faked for a little while, but it cannot be faked for long.

You and I may even agree that baptism is essential for salvation but I assure you many of the others in this discussion DO NOT BELIEVE THAT!

For DA, J-ROC, Encryptus, Raven, and I am guessing you too, Baptism is just some extra-salvational weight of obligation that Jesus put on folks that serves no purpose in their lives!
No, 1 Peter 3:21 - baptism saves us...

I'm not trying to pick a fight, but rather looking for understanding here. Would it be fair for me to say of you that the resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3:21-22) is "just some extra-salvational weight" that has nothing to do with your baptism as long as you get baptized "right?"

No, I trust you see the importance of His resurrection. He did His work and we follow His pattern into a new life.

Not something "else;" I just say that John 3:5 doesn't "include the whole package." Jesus is clearly telling Nicodemas that he must be born again. For the details of that "born again" experience we need to turn to the book of Acts.

How come your posts always crowd out my posts (which are generally better)?

I post and then refresh the page and there you are... and I'm bumped down a notch. Is this board controlled by ultra-liberals who are trying to prevent the masses from benefiting from my wisdom?
