That was the very day I met BOOMM - believe it or not, small world! The two of us had signed on with Chenault's Flying Tigers, seeking adventure in far off China. Because the "Religion" field on our dog tags read "Miscellaneous/Other" we were assigned to the ground crew along with the Sikhs, Animists and Moravian Brethren.
I spent "the duration" sprinkling saw dust on fuel spills out on the tarmac while BOOMM was earning his screen name as the lovable but clumsy munitions clerk.
Most of my memories are clouded by malaria and dengue fever; but what a great time we had.
