Thank you! We are trying to think of it as an entire lifestyle change rather than a diet so I hope it will help us in the long run. I don't want to come off all Richard Simmons-ish but once you have had the epiphany and realize that you can do something about it, it is exciting.
I purposely try to be hard on myself (although being out of town right now, I find it VERY hard to eat right).

It is hard when you're out of town. But you can do it. And...please don't do the Richard Simmons thing! One and only one of him is bad enough, LOL!!!

Being overweight is not always unhealthy....your blood pressure, cholesterol, etc is what determines your health...
There are many reasons for someone to be overweight....gluttony being one of them....I have seen some people who stuff themselfs.....they are gluttonous, then there are those that are older, on medication, etc....you can not lump everyone into the same bag here......

Then you hit 45 to 48 and the battle gets rougher and you fight harder and you still lose the battle. It isn't long before the excitement flees and and frustration and the associated anxiety take its place further compounding your insulin resistance and weight gain due to stress and you feel like quitting but you know if you do you will get depressed and the depression will make you gain even more weight and then you will be totally miserable and want to die. So, your final solution is eat and be happy and who cares what others think about how you look. Jesus loves you, your wife/husband loves you and not much else really matters.
Of course that only lasts about 3 weeks and then you forget to avoid the full length mirror in the bedroom and the cycle starts all over again.

Sheltiedad ought to be commended for seeing how DISCIPLINE is a necessity in dealing with overweight. Exercise and watching one's eating habits are all part of disicpline. ANYONE can become disciplined.

An overweight body isn't healthy. Your body stores fat to put the toxins in, so the toxins won't damage the rest of the body. In most other countries very few people are overweight. A healthy body doesn't carry excess weight.
