Well, I might decide to share my secret recipe for a highly exotic and rare gourmet holiday food:
GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE!!!
Uh ... okay.
Kidding.
There's probably enough green bean casserole baked for Thanksgiving and Christmas to sink a battleship.
Well, anyway, that's what I was fixing along with the roast today.
(Yeah, I CAN cook more than green bean casserole.)
Seriously Tim, when I do GBC, I cook the beans down with butter, sometimes a litle bacon or bacon grease, thinly sliced onion, and a dash Lowrey's Seasoning.
Only after I have really cooked them down do I make the casserole, using only Campbell's soup (not an off brand) and very little onion rings...sprinkle some throughout and some on top.
Blanch fresh green beans in salted water until about half cooked. Drain. Microwave bacon strips also until about half cooked. Grab a handful of green beans, wrap the bacon around it and secure with a round toothpick.
In a saucepan, combine a stick of butter, about a 1.5 cups of brown sugar and six minced garlic cloves. (This should make enough sauce to cover 6-8 bundles.) Cook over medium-low heat. After the butter and sugar melt, continue to cook for about 10 minutes so that the flavors combine.
Pour sauce over green bean bundles and bake at 350 for about 15-20 minutes. You'll know that they're done when the bacon has browned and the beans are tender.
The sauce melts to a very liquid state in the oven. Make sure that you baste the bundle before serving.

Walt's brother is bringing a Prime Rib, but my family thinks it's not Thanksgiving if you don't have turkey, so we're having both.
I'll make the turkey. My mom will make the stuffing.
I'll make homemade mashed taters with cream cheese, butter and maybe some chopped up bacon pieces (if I have time to cook the bacon a couple days ahead of time and then just reheat quick before I add to the potatoes)
Then we have to have homemade oatmeal rolls. Mmmmm
Corn Casserole
Scalloped Broccoli
Waldorf Salad
Lots of homemade pies and cheesecakes (we each bring several)
The normal assortment of olives, pickles, etc. and we always eat a whole huge bunch of spinach dip with Hawaiian bread before we even set the table.
We do our Thanksgiving as a potluck, so there's more food than 12 families can eat!!!
After we eat, we always go bowling. They love to see us walk into the bowling alley. We get about 8 lanes and put 4-6 people on each lane. After we bowl, we come back to our house and EAT AGAIN!!!
Pray for us this year tho. This will be the first holiday after my niece died in September. So we know it will be a very hard one.
