My best friends are involved in a house church group, I am wondering what area the group that you are referring to is from, I don't think that there are a whole lot out there. I think that once they join up with the movement they tend to move to be near each other. Of course, the group that you are referring to may be totally different from my friends, the group that you are talking about sounds like they are more organized.
The group that my friend is with was orginally started by a man who used to be in the UPC, however, as far as I can tell, at this point they don't hold to any specific doctrine. And they do not have a "pastor" or specific leader, they have a group of "elders".
I am overall, very impressed with the group, they lead very beautiful, very Christian lives, they put me to shame.
My biggest issue with them is that while it is great for their families, and a beautiful way to live, the extreme separation that they live does not lend itself to outreach in any way. I don't understand how they get around that, biblically. I asked Bro. Hoover this question, since it pertains to those in the Amish and Mennonite communities as well, I don't think that he responded to it as yet.
My thoughts!
