I have read most of this thread but not all of it.
I have confidence in Old Paths veracity but there are a few things that make we question the authenticity of the letter.
First it is poorly written. The sentance structure is awkward. Much as one would do while quickly dashing off a post on a forum.
Secondly he refers to Nathanial Wilson as "Nate Wilson". I don't know Pastor Booker but for a conservative that seems like a very informal and personal reference to a fellow pastor in a public letter. I would have thought he would have used his full name.
Of course I coudl be wrong. LB could just be a poor writer or not taken time to craft a better letter and pehaps everybody calls Pastor Wilson "Nate" in formal correspondance.
Good points. It is possible that he didn't take the time because it might not have been truly "formal" but rather a note of explanation to somebody questioning him about the meeting in Tulsa...which might also explain why he calls Nathaniel Wilson "Nate"...after all, the letter does use the phrase "You're a Good Man" as if the letter was intended to be sent to one single person rather than passed along to an entire body of ministers. Perhaps in private correspondence he feels comfortable enough to refer to Bro. Wilson as Nate. This would explain why the letter is not as well crafted as it might be.
Or he could've not written it, and this is somebody's idea of a joke.
It is evident that we are in sad, tumultuous times. (Nothing good can come of this)The vote for the acceptance of T.V. (which, as we all know, is really what it was) (The liberals lied when they said it was just about TV advertising) seems to have been 'the straw that broke the camel's back' for many, many people. I am amazed at the deep, heart felt response from so many that cannot and will not go in that direction. This speaks well for the many that still really want to do what's right. (Those who DON'T agree with the many that will not go in that direction are, obviously, those who do NOT want to do right)As for the UPC, truly, God only knows what this vote has brought upon it. (Again, nothing good can come of THIS vote) As far as I'm concerned, it is a heartbreaking tragedy of immense proportions. However, I do know that the UPC will always have within its ranks some of the greatest people in the world.
PLEASE believe me when I say that I AM NOT nor will I EVER be interested in another 'AMF' spirit and attitude. It has and has had many very good men in it, some of which are good friends, but too many within its ranks (not all, thank God) increasingly lent themselves to critical bombast until there is now basically nothing left.
God Bless,
You're a Good Man! (If you agree with us!!)
Hope to See You There,
LLB
LB is being very doom and gloom about this, prognosticating no good coming from the vote. Well, it looks like no one will ever find out because the cons are determined to make sure that there is some sort of division over it.

If he did write it to a single person, then shame on the one who shared it.
Secondly, I really don't see the need for any further discussion or correspondence from these ministers. They've made up their minds to set themselves apart from the "liberal" tv-advertisers, and that's all there is to it. Let's face it: Just as they think the tv vote was "really" just an acceptance of TV, their withdrawal from the organization is "really" something they've wanted to do for a long time and the vote gives them what they perceive to be a valid excuse.
Thirdly, if he didn't really write it, it isn't a joke; it's a lie.

I have soooo many blackmail "get out of jail free" stories...I keep them close to my chest just in case I ever need em' he he he
LOL. I'm afraid that to visit my girlfriend then required a visit with her parents and several siblings as well. But it was worth it, putting up with the mob. For going on a quarter of a century I've had her all to myself now.
Except for the kids... and the parents... and the mob of siblings and other hangers on who have been underfoot the whole time... well, I guess somethings don't really change.
Your right, going back to swimming in the irrigation ditch on Eight Mile Rd.
I know Paul Dugas called him Nate when he announced that he was on restriction for sneaking out of the Dorm.
