I was told to check out the 'Jeffers thread' with regards to equal respect... I read the entire thread and to be honest, unless I missed something, I think more was read into a question than was meant. I could be wrong, it's been known to happen before... However, don't mistreat one man because another has shown a lack of God's love by being racist.

And FTR, I think Bro. Morton is an honorable man who believes the One God, Apostolic, Holiness message with every single bone of his body. Perhaps his mannerisms offend some, but... 'blessed are they which love my law and NOTHING shall offend them.' Can't argue with that...

James 3:2

2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body

Amen, Dora! I spent a few years on the West coast (Bay Area) and so, I too, know that there is a lot of truth in your statement. We have (had) mutual friends...if you are who I think you are.

Today's conservatives will be the ultra cons of the new UPC.

The liberals, who want far more than television advertising, will be emboldened to ask for more.

The removal of the prohibition on television advertising leaves television a non-issue in the UPC; the remaining prohibition against TV is a technicality that I think will be disregarded.

The men who have won this allowance from the ultra cons today will find themselves defending their positions on the traditional standards tomorrow.

The political process is a two edged sword.

This will not end the war of liberation - the struggle has just begun.
We don't need prohibitions. We need what the word of God says about sin and immorality and preach it. TV is not sin or immoral. It's the content, which can be found on the Internet too.

That was the mistake IMO. They should have compromised and made a resolution allowing for the use of TV for advertisements and preaching and include a statement that we all agree that Christians should not watch unwholesome Television programming.

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

It is amazing how people bring up this card when they disagree with someone's life.

BTW, THAT very organization is nowhere near today what it was even 10 or 15 years ago.

He seemed to preach every year there. The last time I heard him his message was fabulous! His message that night was church growth and that it WAS about numbers. Not the first mention of standards. There were many preachers on the platform that didn't look none too happy. That was a few years ago. He didn't preach there again till I think this last campmeeting. He said to the preachers that if they weren't interested in their church growing to step aside and let someone else do it! He was pumped that night. It was funny to hear that message preached at an ultra-con campmeeting.

That's the truth! It more about standards 9 times out 10.

I spoke to a young evangelist from his church (he dint know where I stood, sit, or stand on things. ), and he was lined up with VM repeating his comment at the time, "...If this thing passes (res 4) it will be the beginning of the end..." This is a direct quote of VM from this evang.

I am not saying he doesn't influence ANYONE, I am just saying his name doesn't carry the hammer nor the stigma with it as it once did. Same exact thing with Bro. Paul Price...hence the thrust of his letters a while back. They were meaningful to some people I am sure, but were less irrelevant to others.

BTW...I meant no dis-respect in my comparison.
