When you don't have that, you stand on whatever God gives you to stand on. I was actually back in church, speaking in tongues again, for several months before I realized how backwards things were. lol I'd spent years discounting, and discrediting, the Bible and just couldn't accept it as fact. As it is, I read it far differently than most I know. I simply will not accept that it says what someone says it says, or even what it appears to say, without really digging into both the original language and the cultural history of the passage.

Oh..I came to accept it as the infallible Word of God flat on my face in the middle of the floor. lol It was purely a God thing, cuz my brain would not accept it.

God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. ~Romans 3:24 from The Message

The good news is that the prodigals can come home.God restores and He looks beyond our faults and sees our need.

Answer: His followers.

God has never spoken to me from heaven to assure me of his goodness. Nope, the only places I have heard this said were from his followers, and from the Bible (a book of writings, written by his followers).

So can you see the irony of what you are telling me? Believe that God is good, because his followers say so, even though their behavior shows otherwise.
You might be interested in this discussion. Whether His followers say God is good or not, what does the Bible say? Yes, of course, it says He is good. But what about God's actions? Do they speak louder than words?

Your questioning is somewhat askewed. This denies Faith in that even though it may not look right, you know in your heart it is correct. You know if you place your hand over the open flame of a candle, it hurts. You don't see directly written "Thou shalt not place thy hand in a flame." This is not to say we don't proof what is correct. Cultural History said the only true church was the Roman Catholic Church at one time. Original language? ummmm ok, well KJV works fairly well for me translated to English. The JW use the Original Language argument to base their New World Translation and dualism.

Mich, I wanted to say something about your comments...I have not read them all only a few.

Can you only see the negative in the Bible concerning God? There are many wonderful things God has done (He still does) in the Bible for His children and even those who were not. God should have wiped out King David, but He didn't...He said that "I will pardon, whom I will pardon."

I really hope you were not serious about what you are saying...I love you and am concerned by the things you have been saying lately. Your relationship with God does not have to be disfunctional!

And the CROSS speaks the loudest.
