With this statement, you and I have a very firm and clear agreement. That obedience will indeed lead one progressively to the water and Spirit baptism.

I think that many times we have a lot of confusion as to what it is meant to be born again, converted and saved. It leads to much misunderstanding and very often ill feelings among some who are so hard and opinionated.

Is this the beginning of the end for this forum being an Apostolic forum?? Have we gone charismatic?? Is the fat lady singing??

Acts 2:38 is alive and well in the hearts of those who love truth. I was baptized in Jeus' Name way back in 1971 and have never looked back. I'm so thankful theat the Lord chose to reveal His Word to me. I believe those who have been born again should follow the Lord in obedience by being baptized in His Name. By submitting to baptism, we enter the "waters of separation"...our sins, which were crucified at repentance. are buried with Him.

I don't find anywhere on this forum (though, admittedly, I haven't looked real hard) where someone has denied the importance in being baptized in water. Some, like me, place water baptism in its proper place... as the first step of obedience for the new Christian in His walk with God. It is my view, and always has been, that sins are forgiven when we repent of (die to) our sins. We are then baptized to "bury" our sins. And, we are filled with the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues (raised to newness of life). It may not happen in that order necessarily. There are many, (including many in trinitarian churches) who recieve the Holy Ghost BEFORE they are baptized.

What does that make me? 3 stepper? 1 stepper? I don't really know and don't really care. I just want to follow the Lord and have fellowship with those eho believe in fellowship and unity. Sadly, it seems, too many are looking for reasons to divide and break fellowship. This can't be of God when so many times He calls us to be ONE in Christ.

I pretty much got kicked out of the main floor of my own home last night when the youth from several churches moved in to use our place as a base camp for their deployment to some sort of UPC event. For this reason I had to drop out just as the thread was heating up...

Oh well, when I am old I will miss the sound of size 14's bounding through my house.

Back to the thread... ChristopherHall! How could you post a link to the late Brother Arnold's "History Outline?" Have you ever read that? Worse yet, have you ever been hustled up in the front of a room full of people and told to defend its claims?

I was, and that experience was certainly one of the most enbarassing moments of my life. The claims made in the booklet are absurd. One of Brother Arnold's former research assistants posts here regularly and he has experience with the work and the author himself.

Needless to say, no one publicly defends this outline or these "facts." We just keep seeing posts popping up all the time and then the defenders are challenged and they melt into floorboards.

You're a smart guy. Go through that outline as if you had to defend its assertions. Put your own neck on the chopping block and see if you really want to promote this thing.

I believe Acts 2:38. I experienced it, and see it being experienced by others around me. Just standing up to be counted.

I did not reference any site at all. Let me repeat,I did not reference any website at all.
I simply posted a picture a bunch of religious leaders who are trying to "come together". (This was following up on BOOMM's pic of the pope & the head of the Orthodox church hugging each other.)

Just in case my reference wasn't clear with the first picture, I went ahead and added the Rodney Brown picture with his well-known quote "cant we all just get along?" <---(did you get that???)

Apparently you didn't get it.
Anyway, you decided to follow the URL and went to the site the picture is hosted on (!?)... to read up some stuff on the background of the people who posted the pic on their site... so you could go off on a tangent asking me about why would I want to emulate those religious leaders (??!!) (huh?)

*sigh*

Then even after I come back and clarify, telling you plainly that the whole thing was tongue in cheek... yet you still come back at me with the above post? You're clearly not paying attention, Pel.

Never mind.
Just... never mind.
Hmmm... you loose your cool and then project that hostility onto me. I have always thought better of you. bro.

I think I see the cause of your confusion however: I was responding to the following post by you as you were adding the humorous Rodney King pic. Notice in my quote below that, I have no Rodney King pic.

We both had the post "open" - you were still adding to it and I was quoting it and wires got tangled- it's no big deal.

And I didn't feel like it was a "tangent." I was comparing the way the RCC, Eastern Orthodox, Armenian, Jewish and Muslim clerics represented groups that were as quarrelsome as we are. The major difference is that we haven't yet resorted to the shedding of blood. Hopefully some of the "Wesleyan/Holiness" tradition that was revealed in a poll on another thread will keep everyone in line.

Again, no anger here. I'm sorry that you thought you saw hostility in my posts, there was certainly none intended.
