Under question. Wont let the preacher preach?
Sounds to me like a whole lot of stinking and willlful flesh in operation even if not the DEVIL himself.
He needs to send a letter back to the Board and tell them that THEY are now under question.

Well, if you want details I have them.
In fact I have a copy of the letter in my desk drawer.

How could they NOT accept his resignation? I mean, that's like an employer NOT letting you quit! It's a free country, folks!

Have been told that the current Dist Supt is the main one trying to get pastors to pull out. JS.

A particular preacher that befriended me (since passed away...when he was alive, he was twice the preacher I will ever be), and helped guide my early ministry, left the UPC at one point in a particular district. He wrote a kind letter, and in fact, wasn't mad or in disagreement with his district at all. A presbyter, not of his section...but another, and a close friend called him. He was told I am going to "lose" your letter. When asked why, he was told, if we look at your letter in a board meeting, we will have to make a decision on what it really means. Now look, he was very plain, but very kind. There was no doubt as to what the letter meant. What does this "we have to decide what you are really saying" mean?
Same type of junk delta guitar's pastor is dealing with I guess. That being said, I do not know who is involved here, and as a UPC minister, will give the district board the benefit of the doubt. However, if this is as described, it is really rather...strange.

Now isn't that something. He comes in as brand new DS, completely botches my pastor's resignation, and now wants to leave.
Really, I don't think he is a bad guy. He is just old. Like most of these guys, they just aren't able to keep up and be relevant. They were at their prime in the late 60s early 70s. They probably do very good at preaching and ministering to their local congregation but more of like a grandfather and not a strong spiritual fathers that the Mississippi District needs.

Why don't you make that a pm and don't post publically.

The easiest way to leave the UPCI? Just lose the little brown envelope that comes every three months and you'll be on your way in a hurry.

I think it was just like this. They didn't want to lose a licensed minister and have a church split. They probably hoped he would reconsider. The only problem with that is that there is no proof that he resigned. He mailed the letter the next day. Now he is under question because he started another church while still a UPC licensed minister.
