Me: That wasn't what I was saying at all. I was saying that when people are forced to conform to a certain dress code to be accepted by others then it becomes much more difficult to tell if God is working in their life.
If a person follows the dress codes because that's all that's really ever asked of him, and yet he is committing adultery, then he is hiding abominable practices.
In the UPC (generally), people's lives are not examined the scriptural way to see if they are believers, they are judged by the dress codes usually. This is not only not scriptural, but allows false brothers to creep in unaware because they look right.

I don't believe that anybody is forcing modesty upon someone to be accepted. And I do believe that we can see God working through individuals that have been biblically saved but I have not yet conformed to holiness in regards to dress. That why we have new converts classes in churches across the country.
If we were to make the assumption that holiness would come to those without teaching or instruction, then we could be waiting along time and, undoubtedly, those who have come into salvation, would eventually not return wondering what the big deal was. Our ministers and teachers have a responsibility to teach biblical holiness not as an acceptance tool, but rather and an instructional tool. They are not saying do these list of things that pertain to holiness or don't comeback.
