Really??..... I know she also wrote "I'm So Glad This Holy Ghost Is Genuine"......
the one that says....
"It's not form and it's not fashion
This salvation sent from God suits me just fine
It's old, yet It's new
It's powerful, yet It's true
I'm so glad this Holy Ghost is genuine."

Ok , is it just me or does anyone else think the song, "Shake loose, everything that binds you up" would make a good laxative commercial?
Everytime the choir sings that song I just crack up... I'm sure it's just my strange sense of humor.

Anyone heard this song?:
I feel better, so much better
Since I laid my burden down
I feel better, so much better
Since I laid my burden down
Well, the devil, he don't like it,
Since I laid my burden down
Well, the devil, he don't like it,
Since I laid my burden down.
Our church has been on a kick singing this song almost every service. It is driving me nuts. Where is Jesus in this song? It's so repetitive and needs to retire. Glad I could vent here.
Or how about :
I've got Jesus on the inside,
Workin' on the outside,
Oh what a change in my life,
I've got Jesus on the inside,
Workin' on the outside,
Oh what a change in my life,
Oh what a change in my life!!!!
That one needs to retire too. How do we Pentecostals get stuck on these songs and then sing them to death and beyond?

Because change is scary to some people.

For a long, long time, I could not stomach that song. Now (20 years later) when we sing it occasionally (thank the Lord it's ONLY occasionally) I never think about the Lord. My mind immediately drifts off to the person who loved that song so much he made us sing it to death.

I feel bad this song was ruined for you. Whenever we sing this song, I picture the little old lady who used to sit in the front row in my home church. She was alone in the world and whenever we had song requests, she would request this song because she was longing to see Jesus. I will never forget her and the impression she made on me when I was a child. She would sing this song with all her heart and a big smile on her face. When we sing this song in church, it makes me want to shout. "Oh, I want to see Him, look upon His face, there to sing forever of His saving grace...." I absolutely love this song.

Okay, maybe it's a great song, but all our church sings is that one line and it drives me nuts. It's like the song leader finally finds a song that he doesn't have to concentrate on and off he goes... .
