Re: Do you automatically trust a man called Preach
It usually takes me awhile before I can trust a preacher.

Yes, JT. I'm certainly aware of that.
I'm not saying an Apostolic is necessarily trustworthy just because hes an OP. But Im simply saying I'd have more reason to believe this person is trustworthy (and remember the original question was about preachers), being Apostolic, than if he was, say, Baptist or Methodist.

A complete side thought: I think the most trustworthy person you will ever meet on this planet is someone who just received the Holy Ghost within the past 24-48 hours. Honestly, if there was ever a time that I was probably sinless in my life, it was during those first few days.
Carry on....

Absolutely not - not just because someone calls himself a preacher. I am struggling with trusting someone as a pastor. We recently started attending another church and the pastor has given me no reason to distrust him but it is hard to begin in a new church and trust the pastor or the saints. Back wounds and a wounded spirit don't always heal so easily. Pray that I can trust again.

I would think that this is the time when someone is the most honest. I say that cause they have been honest with God in order to repent. The act of repentance is a powerful thing. It makes you be honest.

TL have you read the book 'Tale of Three Kings' by Gene Edwards? If not get it. It is about 100 pages and I promise it will change your life if you allow God to work through it. The book is great to help deal with hurt especially from the ministry. It is worth every penny. I am sure everyone that has read it will Ditto me on this.

All I've ever known and was taught was to be honest....My parents didn't go to church but they were honest and moral people. They witnessed "church folks" who were deadbeats and unethical all around them. ...Not bashing "church folks" just stating how I grew up.

No, I haven't...I'll try to find a copy. Would it be at Borders or Hastings bookstores or would I have to order it from PPH?

I understand that you are not 'bashing' church folk you are just stating the fact of your up-bringing. That is well and good. But do you think that they also saw non-church people that were deadbeats and unethical? I know that the church people or saints are always under the microscope by those outside the body of Christ. Is it fair to say that no one is perfect, but I have seen people outside the body of Christ point at those in it and pick out very bad examples on why they should not join. There are, IMO, many more good ones in this body than there are bad. The reason I used to term body is because we all fit together to be the entire body of Christ. Some people have bad feet and hands, but they do not cut them off because they are hurtful or even useless in some cases. They deal with it cause it is part of the body. There are very bad people in the body, but there are more 'real' people in this thing than there are 'fakes'. It just seems that to bad apples stink more than the good fruit fragrance.

I bought mine at Barnes and Noble. I know that you can get it through Amazon and maybe Borders too. Never heard about Hastings. I can promise you this it will make you check yourself and see if you are the problem or what. It is, IMO, the best book written to help improve ones spiritual life other than the Bible. It is tremendous. Ask others their thought of it and see what they say.
