Re: Ever have to re-kill the dead?

I had to kill a wasp about 3 times, the other day. Whacked it on the carpet with something. Stopped moving. Then it woke up. Sigh.

Re: Ever have to re-kill the dead?

WOW! I certainly needed to read that right now. For the past year we have a young woman that has been causing havoc for my husband and I. She has spread vile rumors about us. When we heard of it we were shocked--and these rumors can be life altering for us if anyone believed them! Thankfully people that DO hear them know us and know they are false.

It took a lot for me to get past the anger and not let bitterness set in. I have my moments though that if I caught her at the right time and place and my mindset was "off" that I could be very ugly with her. I pray continually that I keep the right spirit but sometimes it comes back up.

Thanks Ferd. I am glad you got the victory over this. That was a moving story - thanks for sharing.

Re: Ever have to re-kill the dead?

Good post Brother Ferd,

Keep killing him,

I have to kill the flesh that brings up the guy that was driving the car that killed our daughter every now and again.

Faith, yes , definitly...the Love of Christ in us must prevail.

Love you brother, praying..

Yes sir I have.

I was squirrel hunting on morning as a youth, and had killed a couple squirrels. Like usual, I had pierced the web of their hind feet with a slender sassafras branch, and woven the ends of the branch through my belt loops. I shot another squirrel and he fell to earth near the trunk of the giant oak from which he fell. I poked him a couple times and got no response, so I laced him on with the other two. I paused, got my bearings, and began searching the forest for more signs of movement. As I was still-hunting along a deer trail, a couple hundred yards from the giant oak, I felt a stinging in my leg. I thought I had brushed up against a briar bush, so I took a step backward and looked down. That little buck-toothed varmint had regained consciousness and had sunk his claws into me and was trying to bite me.

There is little that can be done with words to communicate to you, the reader, the entire spectrum of sensation that envelops a person as they realize that they have a live, hostile, wild animal strapped to their body. Please allow it to suffice that one feels warmly emboldened to swift and incautious action.

Looking back on the smooth efficacy of my reckless and violent reaction, I figure I must have momentarily sprouted 2 or 3 more arms. For I could not recall what precise moves I made to end up with the squirrel under my left foot with only his head exposed above the toe of my boot, and me fiercely steeling myself to stop shaking as I stared down the barrel of my shotgun. I have tried to replicate the situation a couple times, and it is physically impossible to do it without dropping your gun. It is even more amazing, looking back with adult eyes upon the incident, that I didn't blow my own toes off.

Even without the benefit of the strident imperative of the Queen of Hearts, the next move was unambiguous and apropos. And the rest, as they say, is history. . . . . and a tasty dinner.

I love a story with a happy ending.

I hope that helped!

That is such a compelling account, Ferd. I am very sorry for your cousin. I wonder what the "reporter" did when he learned of the events. Did he recognize the part his yellow journalism played in the lives of others?

It may be that as the years go by, some young cub reporter will come running into his editor's office with a "juicy story" that's only "juicy" if you tell it a certain way. Then the editor closes his door and sits the younger reporter down and tells him your story- only from the writer's perspective.

If that man has a conscience at all, and if he knows the whole story, the bitterness that you wrestled with could be comprable to his grief and remorse - only there's no "victory" of overcoming for him. How does a man "undo" a crime like that? He can't. It's a mark he will carry for the rest of his life, like the mark of Cain.
