I think we're talking some fine-line issues here. In the scenario of an attack on your family, would you not defend yourself at all. Where do you draw the line? Would you lay in the bed and allow whatever is to happen to happen? Or would you defend yourself with your hands? Is it wrong to throw a lamp at an intruder? What if you're able to get to a knife or a stick?
I'm just saying there is a difference in not defending yourself, choosing to defend yourself with very little weaponry, or defending yourself with the best weaponry possible.
