Re: Church CLOSED for the Summer

I think that most churches should discontinue Sunday evening services. Doing this but with the movement towards some sort of home groups would be good. If the evening services are cancelled or only held on special occasions but it is taugh that this time should be for family dinners and stuff then I think that every family can and will benefit from it. Personally I like having 1 service or at least 2 AM services. You can put your best foot forward for the AM service(s) and make them spectacular and not have to drag in on Sunday nights. My home church in TN would do better cancelling the AM service cause the night service is the best on to be at. But it is all up to the local assmebly, just my thoughts.

Can't you stay at home and study the Bible and have a devotional and worship time at home?
Just from personal experience. I think that the majority of the people I know that stopped going to church for one reason or another tend to slip away from church rather than get closer to God when they don't have a church home to fellowship with them. My family stopped going to church and my brother in law said that everything would be fine. That they would still have services as a family. Well, that lasted for a little while. I was up there this weekend and his family is so far from God. You need the fellowship of other saints in a worship service to keep you going. Well, in my opinion anyway.

Some churches are shutting down their Sunday night services. Didn't someone say 'lovers of pleasures?' More of everything and less of church.

You are looking for QUANTITY over QUALITY. I am looking for QUALITY over just QUANTITY.

Exactly!!

We still have Sunday pm services.

Although some of the elderly saints are complaining about the price of gas affecting them and their ability to come to church, because they are on a fixed income--but many still do come.

That's where church vans or buses come in handy. Or carpooling.

I imagine this would affect some in many places. Folks can only do what they can.
