I didn't say it meant that. I was just pointing out that apology had been made and it was appreciated.

I think we have to remember that fairly strong salty speech was used by patriarchs and apostles, prophets and kings in Scripture. People get passionate, blood pressures rise, etc. I mean we talk about some very powerful important things in these discussions. I think it's only natural the fur's going fly now and then.

But no, of course I'm not defending hate speech.

See that's where some of the problem is too - what you call fur flying and normal others see as hateful and argumentive.

What would be nice is if everyone could understand the difference.

I think so! If hate speech is used in any form to personally belittle another poster, they should be given a warning and if it continues, they should be banned.....even if they later apologize! JMHO

I just don't want to see posters that add so much to this community start to leave because someone wanted to rattle their cage.

You are soooo right! Someone may write something thinking that they are being funny, but it can be considered offensive. Some posters will never give these posters the pleasure of knowing they were offended, and just fade away from this forum.

Right. Well, you try and define it. LOL.

I know the kind of posting that went on under Jim's (and Mike F's) watch. It wasn't all sweet that's for sure. I hate put-downs and disrespect but what one person would call being disrespectful -- like not giving their post the attention or understanding or empathy they think it deserves (or their feelings either) another poster wouldn't.

It's hard to know where and how to draw lines but I think that we all pretty much know when someone has gone over the line. And some can get away with more than others. It's always been that way and always will be.

How did this become the topic of conversation, anyway? I've personally seen a real consistency among the admins when it comes to cautioning or banning folks on this forum.
