Nobody can operate in the gifts of the Spirit, unless they are first filled with the Holy Spirit. You don’t possess a gift. You operate in a gift, as the Spirit wills. You cannot push a button or flip a switch and operate a gift of the Spirit. They only operate as the Spirit wills.

This is the first time I have heard a gift describe as you have here. Do you have a specific scripture you are thinking of to cause you to believe this? Most folks I know believe you possess those gifts.
