Mrs. LPW,
if you read back through the thread, I already took 1399 to task on this
we moms have to stick together

As an aside from the many hair threads (of which even this may touch on slightly) imagine the following scenario:
A gentlemen starts coming to church and gets baptized. A few or so later he stands up and tells the rest of the congregation a little bit about himself. A few have probably already heard some details through the grape vine and began the "whisper campaign". Also assume the church is one of the more conservative Southern/Texas/West Coast ones as well.
During the mans short talk he says "And I have been doing <blank> for a living for the past <so many> years."
The <blank> could be one of the following:
Ballroom dance instructor
Hairdresser/stylist
Set designer on the Universal Studios back lot
Make-up artist for the same company Manager for local <fill in the blank> jewelry store
On air talent for local television stations news broadcast
Fashion designer
Pit boss or security manager for Ceasers Palace or the Venetian hotel or some other casino....
How long do you think the average new saint in any of the above jobs, or countless others, would have to switch professions or leave the church? <---Said somewhat TIC, but do you think that the new saint would HAVE to switch professions?
I managed a jewelry store a few years ago...yes as a UPC member. And one of our main families in our church OWNS a jewelry store! LOL! Ironic.
well put. also thankful after reading some of his posts that i have a husband that would never say things like that. we are expecting our first child right now. if in 4 years i would have to make a choice to save my child's life over my own, of course i would do it...what makes it any different if it's in the womb? i know my husband feels the same way.
Hey, jewelry is downright biblical! At least based on how often rings are mentioned in a positive light.
I love jewelry. It's so pretty, sparkly and shiny.

oh i agree randy. i don't wear any besides my wedding ring and occasionally another ring. personal choice...but i don't condemn those who do. the bible speaks about jewelry positively in a lot of places. most apostolics will only quote the negative references though. but most of those references in the bible have to do with the Israelites having been involved in something idolatrous and God was cleansing them by having them remove jewelry. of course we always have the Jezebel references. but you can't tell me QUEEN Esther wasn't decked out with jewelry and makeup! the king chose her out of all those women!

LOL!!! Such a GIRL!!!!!

The only thing I wear is my wedding ring as well.... And occasionally a watch.
And a little bit can look very very good. But at some point (which is a bit different for everyone) it just looks over the top -like my grandma with her HUGE string of wooden beads. LOL

Does a ball-and-chain count?
