Ok, ladies, after all the whining I've been doing about teenage boys......... a friend sent me this in my email today. I'm sharing it here because maybe we could all use a reminder about what a privilege it is for us to be parents. We are blessed - even if we sometimes can barely put up with out blessings.

The Price of Children
**************************

This is too good not to pass on to all. Something positive for a change. I have repeatedly seen the breakdown! of the cost of raising a child, but this is the first time I have seen the rewards listed this way.

The government recently calculated the cost of raising a child from birth to 18 and came up with $160,140 for a middle income family. Talk about sticker shock! That doesn't even touch college tuition.

But $160,140 isn't so bad if you break it down. It translates into:

* $8,896.66 a year,

* $741.38 a month, or

* $171.08 a week.

* That's a mere $24.24 a day!

* Just over a dollar an hour.

Still, you might think the best financial advice is don't have children if you want to be "rich." Actually, it is just the opposite. What do you get for your $160,140?

* Naming rights. First, middle, and last!

* Glimpses of God every day.

* Giggles under the covers every night.

* More love than your heart can hold.

* Butterfly kisses and Velcro hugs.

* Endless wonder over rocks, ants, clouds, and warm cookies.

* A hand to hold, usually covered with jelly or chocolate.

* A partner for blowing bubbles, flying kites

* Someone to laugh yourself silly with, no matter what the boss said or how your stock performed that day.

For $160,140, you never have to grow up. You get to:

* finger-paint,

* carve pumpkins,

* play hide-and-seek,

* catch lightning bugs, and

* never stop believing in Santa Claus.

You have an excuse to:

* keep reading the Adventures of Piglet and Pooh,

* watching Saturday morning cartoons,

* Wishing on stars.

* You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under refrigerator
magnets and collect spray painted noodle wreaths for Christmas, hand prints
set in clay or Mother's Day, and cards with backward letters for Father's Day.

For $160,140, there is no greater bang for your buck. You get to be a hero just for:

* retrieving a Frisbee off the garage roof,

* taking the training wheels off a bike,

* removing a splinter,

* filling a wading pool,

* coaxing a wad of gum out of bangs, and coaching a baseball team that never wins but always gets treated to ice cream regardless.

You get a front row seat to history to witness the:

* first step,
* first word,
* first bra,
* first date, and
* First time behind the wheel.

You get to be immortal. You get another branch added to your family tree, and if you're lucky, a long list of limbs in your obituary called grandchildren and great grandchildren. You get an education in psychology, nursing, criminal justice, communications, and human! sexuality that no college can match.

In the eyes of a child, you rank right up there under God. You have
all the power to heal a boo-boo, scare away the monsters under the bed,
patch a broken heart, police a slumber party, ground them forever, and love
them without limits. So, one day they will, like you, love without
counting the cost. That is quite a deal for the price!!!!!!!

Love & enjoy your children & grandchildren!!!!!!!

Thank-you Sis. Margie,

I think all of you know that I love my children and grandchildren...there is no deeper love, except that of Christ.

Blessings, Rhoni

I have a feeling you needed that just as much as the rest of us Margie!!! Thanks!

Well, we are going to our last church service here and I really have mixed emotions about it. My husband called the pastor almost a week ago to tell him it would be our last service and the pastor said "Good". So, that's kindof hard to take. However, there are people I've known since I received the HG at this church whom I love dearly and do not want to leave without saying goodbye, so I'll go for them!

Love and prayers to all!

Sis. Rhoni,

Being a mother and grandmother I understand and totally agree!!

And just think God let us birth, tend and influence His Heritage (His

precious ones). Children ARE the heritage of the Lord!

Blessings,

Carey, the pastor was HAPPY about you leaving??? Unbelievable!! How sad.
So tell us how church went today. I'm interested to hear. I know it must have been hard to say good-bye to some of your friends there. We had a pastor who left one time to go to the mission field (actually that happened to me twice, but this one time....) when we planned a going away service, we sang to them, "I'll see you in the rapture. I'll see you in the rapture. I'll see you in that meeting in the air. There with our blessed SAvior, we'll live and reign forever, I'll see you in the rapture some sweet day."

And you're right. I did need that as much (or more) than the rest of you.

Well, I'm not going to tell you everything! And yes, he really is glad we are leaving! LOL

All went pretty well...we had the usual church service and then after altar the pastor asked me if we would be at church this evening and I told him no, that this would be the last service. He did tell the congregation and reminded them that we had been praying and planning about this move for some time. (we appreciated this) The first person to say goodbye is a dear lady who has been a mother figure to me since I first came into the church. My heart was touched by all those who came to say goodbye...it was hard! There were a lot of tears on my part and a few from others. So many do not want us to leave but it really is time to go.

The pastor never did say goodbye to us...his wife patted me on the shoulder and said she loved us. But you know what? I don't really care...it's all the others who really love us and were genuine and sincere that matter! I don't feel angry or anything, I pity the poor people.

The last thing to happen was an older couple (She's one of Sis. Freeman's daughter's) took us out for dinner and we had a lovely time. When they drove off after all our hugs goodbye, I could see the Brother wiping his eyes and nose...there's just nothing like knowing your loved! These same people loved me when I was a sinner...wonderful Christians!

Sorry this is so lengthy...and thanks for asking Margie! It does me good to write it all out.

Hope your day tomorrow is blessed!
