Actually both. Dress was the main point but some of the times both. We hid the faces sometimes to not give away do to makeup or whatever.

has anyone ever given thought as to men's pants being sized by waist / in-seam measurements and not women's pants? Women's might be sized as to petite or tall, but --

Never had thought of it until someone mentioned it the other day and the discussion was no where near a religious discussion.

Just thought it was a definite distinction in men/women's attire.

The point is though that any difference becomes apparent to those who are immersed in that environment. If everyone wears jeans (which is nearly the case now) then the difference between men and women (along with obvious physical differences between the two sexes) is much clearer to those in that setting than a group who may be more sheltered and need to see a skirt on one and pants on the other in order to even tell the two apart.

Well they are neither slits or splits in mens suit coats or jackets. They are called vents. There is a difference. Vents are great cause they allow movement. Splits are not great cause they allow movement. Oh wait I sound like an Old Time Oneness Pentecostal. That aint me! In all seriousness if a person preaches against vents in suit jackets whoa be unto him that have a vent!
