I don't read anywhere where Jesus gave this authority only to that generation of leadership.
That kind of thinking leads one to believing stuff like - that was only written to the early church or that culture back then and is NOT for us today.
That to me is scary!

This also goes to the mindset of the Catholic church. They believe the Pope has that ability also. I think He gave to the Apostles that ability and they used it and that is why we have their letters to the church today. I think when others start adding their binding and unbinding of things it cause confusion and that is why there are so many in the fix they are in today. We have to Bible lets try to live by IT and leave the rest out of it. God gave us minds to think for ourselves and His spirit to guide us. Think that is enough.
