Nobody is mandating anything. It's not about quotas, as you stubbornly insist.
It's about being more sensitive to, and aware of the issue of racial prejudice that has been in effect in UPC ranks, and to work to create a level playing field, giving every man/woman a fair chance based on their abilities and qualifications. Over time, this creates a more diverse environment in the leadership levels of the organization ... something most good people have no problem with.
Do you have a problem with that concept, or do you wish to just dismiss it as "quotas"?
Not a problem when it comes to race - it should be and totally is a non-issue for me. Quotas for church positions and leadership is NOT a far fetched idea as you try to spin it. The politically correct element would love it and it has been done before - as noted - even among Oneness Pentecostals.
But seeing you made this about gender... one might argue Jesus did not include women in the number of the twelve when he very easily could have...

I can tell you that I allowed the Republican party to use and abuse me for the LAST time. I vote conservatively, but I am NOT a Republican. I refuse to belong to any political party again. I am an Independent. I am not happy with either choice in this Presidential election but will vote as conservative as I can........as difficult as that may be.
MOW...my point has been that if the GOP gets the message that conseravtives do not feel compelled by God to vote Republican and that they are actually going to make them work for our votes...it may get some things done and get some disillusioned young conservatives back in the game.

Hoover, I'm not trying to be disagreeable for the sake of argument, but I am very curious as to what the sexual immorality angle had to do with this. I also just wanted to add that we can become diverse by including qualified minorities where they were at one point intentionally excluded. Most often in the real world, when something was intentionally damaged, it must be intentionally fixed.

I was baffled by that too. The sexual immorality thing came from way out of left field.
Perhaps he will clarify.

if it means anything to anyone, the UPC church I'm a member of has a white pastor, 2 of the other ordained ministers are black, two are white . They are excellent preachers of the word. The head of the Sun. school dept. is hispanic. about 65% of members are hispanic' 25% white, 7% black, 3% asian (my estimates), we run around 200 people. We're in W.D.

UPC and anyone we "know" aside... Statistically, is there greater incidence of sexual moral failure among preachers of some races?

Sorry folks, did not mean to throw a bomb and leave...
Some time ago I did read an article on sexual immorality among black clergy. Perhaps someone can help me ID the piece.
The article was introspective and I believe the study was led by scholars and clergy within the black community. It made the case that immorality was at very high levels and shutting the offenders out of the ministry as many traditional churches have done would leave a giant hole in the "black church" leadership. Consequently many have come to accept this as a part of black culture and restitution to the ministry is nearly always a given - often without any lapse of the office.
