Honorarium:An honorarium is an ex gratia payment made to a person for their services in a volunteer capacity or for services for which fees are not traditionally required. This is used by groups such as schools or sporting clubs to pay coaches for their costs. Another example includes the payment to a guest speaker at a conference to cover their travel, accommodation, or preparation time.

You are correct. But my understanding is that not only does Jakes have a se4t honorarium, but he also takes a percentage of the offerings.
I can understand someone in the music industry taking an honorarium, but just don't set right with me when a man puts a price tag on his preaching ministry. The gospel is for sale in my opinion when one does this.

Mark has been a long time friend of mine in the WD. The guy has caught it from every side the last few months. This weekend he was unfairly mischaracterized by a couple of preachers on another forum. It's no wonder he doesn't post much. One wrong move and his pastor gets a call or an email, or he's called a liberal sympathizer for even posting on AFF.Give it break!

You've got to be kidding! This is just disgraceful that a minister called his pastor. Sounds like someone's insecure if you ask me.

Whoa! Before you start making more assumptions, for the record I did not mean to cast any aspersions on Mark or anyone else. My apologies if it was taken that way. I have no idea about all the calls or anything else.

I appreciate that MWD. It's okay, I'm well aware of the above mentioned (highlighted) and more.
Maybe comment on it more later.
I'm not too surprised but I am a little taken aback by the comment that Steve Epley just made.
O well.... It's all good...I'll just shake the dust off and keep on keepin' on

Re: TD Jakes Speaking at COGIC convocation
I'm glad for it. Maybe COGIC will change their baptismal doctrine officially as on organization to somehow incorporate the Name of Jesus into it!
Their founder was baptized in Jesus Name. In an old COGIC doctrine book, I read where the organization used to allow its ministers to baptize in Jesus Name. I read it while stationed in NC, but it was a very old book.
Bishop Jakes has Trinitarian churches led by Trinitarian Pastors in his organization-- his speaking at COGIC is not surprising to me.
The message this Sunday at the COGIC I attend was, "The Message From Hell-- 'Don't Come Here.'"

I'm not so sure of that - it's all in the timing of the thread
and in lue of other things said elsewhere I'm highly doubtful

In some cases I'm afraid the lines have disappeared completely. TV ministers have done more to hurt the cause of Christ than to help it. Some of them are down right phony and definitely greedy. There is no modern preacher today that is worth $50,000.00 for one service.
