Re: More Employee Layoffs at PPH
To keep things in perspective this layoff will affect around 13 people.

lets keep this in perspective...
most of those 13 attend the same church.
You cant tell me that other expenses could be cut to save the jobs of JUST 13 people?
Those 13 people have families...it affects MORE than 13 people

Re: More Employee Layoffs at PPH
Knowing what I know about the UPC, they would lay off low paid people before they would cut those gas cards for the top dogs. Yes, it is a business. Too many church enterprises are living this way and jeopardizing tax exempt status for non-profits. If these people want to run a business and make lots of money, they should get into the secular field.

Theresa,
You are right. It does affect more. The simplistic way his post was worded just made me laugh. I didn't mean to offend, as I'm sure I did.

and over half of them are in my church.
the mismanagement of funds at WEC/PPH is rampant....they need assistance making these kinds of decisions. I dont think it's deliberate, or criminal it's IGNORANCE.
Was this something the voting members voted on? How can they just decide to cut 13 more jobs and outsource the responsibilities? Who is making these decisions and who do they answer to?
besides this is an ADDITIONAL 13 people....remember? They laid off others earlier this year. Which was a fiasco...

As far as I'm concerned it's the whole organization that does this, not just PPH. When we started the Home Missions church, we were bottom of the barrel and made a ton of sacrifices. They told us numerous times to be sure to send in money to every program so they could know were were "cooperating". I guess I thought starting a church and spending all our money doing it was cooperating. Also, using the word cooperating sounds more like you are in the mafia than the church. Participating would have been a much less confiscatory term.

They would use Sheaves for Christ money to feed the ministers dinner. I am probably talking too much. Soon, the big guns will come out.

I see you are closer to this situation and that it is serious for so many families in one church!
It's affecting us all. My husband's hours have been cut by 20 and my daughter is pulling money from her husband's resources for merchandise to keep her store afloat.
It's not a good time for a lot of people. For sure.
Again, I apologize for making light of the situation. I wasn't paying close attention to the thread and should have before responding!
